2012 NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conference Update!
The 2012 NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conference is tentatively scheduled to occur the week of August 20 in Las Vegas. We are working to secure a location that will be cost-effective for those who attend, that will need our training needs, and that will still be fun! We hope to post final information within the next few days. Please check back!
Although there are signs the economy may be beginning to turn around, bankruptcy filings remain high and are projected to remain high for the next few years
Is your financial institution able to confidently handle its bankruptcy filings promptly and thoroughly? Are you able to protect your rights while also respecting those of your borrowers? Are you able to avoid the mistakes that may cause you to lose tens of thousands of dollars in missed opportunities? Are you complying with all applicable laws, or are delays and errors placing your financial institution at risk?
Do you need practical, specific, detailed and clear training regarding what bankruptcy law allows -- and doesn't allow -- you to do? Do you need more than war stories or general principles and PowerPoint slides? Have you had enough of being told "you can't," and are you ready to learn what you can do to protect your rights in bankruptcy?
Find out why so many credit unions and other lending institutions consider the annual NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conference to be the gold standard in bankruptcy training, and why many return year after year to update and polish their skills.
What Is the NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conference?
The
NorthLegal Bankruptcy Conference is an in-depth four or five day (your choice)
program designed to provide lending institutions with the thorough, in-depth,
practical information and training they need in order to analyze and fight consumer
bankruptcy cases. The conference is jointly hosted by credit union leagues and
associations from more than forty-two states, by NorthLegal Training and Publications,
and by the law firm of Moore, Brewer, Jones, Tyler & North.

Who Teaches the Program?
The conference classes are taught primarily by attorney
Eric M. North, who has represented the interests of credit unions and other financial
institutions for more than twenty-five years, and who has taught thousands of
consumer credit professionals from around the country how to understand and comply
with the laws that govern them.
Who Attends the Program?
The conference is designed to provide information that
will benefit new bankruptcy collectors, experienced bankruptcy collectors, and
those who supervise them. (To help those who are new to the bankruptcy world
prepare, two archived NorthLegal Webinars are made available free to registered
participants the week before the program begins!) We are proud to say that, although
we have many new participants each year, a substantial number of participants
return year after year because they believe they learn valuable new information
each time.
When and Where is the Next Conference?
Now in its eleventh year, the 2011 NorthLegal
Bankruptcy Conference will be held from August 22 to 25 at Bally's Resort and
Casino, centrally located on the Strip. Bally's has recently renovated its deluxe
North Tower sleeping rooms and meeting space. We're sure you'll be
impressed!
What is the Conference Schedule
and What is the "Special Session"?
The main conference begins Monday morning and
will end at noon on Thursday. However, for those who want to get the absolute
most out of the program and who can spare the extra day, a special session is
held Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, to give participants an opportunity
to work through hypothetical cases and role playing exercises. This special session
usually is attended by a smaller group, which provides participants with an opportunity
to discuss issues in a more relaxed atmosphere.
